Lost - November 18 - Gravel Guard - Norrish
« on: November 18, 2006, 08:38:53 PM »

Lost

Gravel Guard - brown colour, white lettering "Browning", with a velcro strap

I must have dropped it when I was changing at the end of the day.  I was parked about 50 yards from the single lane bridge (beside the farm, not the railroad tracks)

If anybody is heading that way tomorrow should find it, just e-mail me at funpig@yahoo.com.

Thanks.

heh, yep that was me, you looked like you'd been out there awhile, sitting down and all... What were you after in there? I've never seen anyone bottom fish in there... Catch anything?

I went downstream a bit and landed 3 coho, all of them very dark, which is why I'm not there today... Saw another fly angler kill some pretty dark coho, it was quite nasty. Not to mention all the snaggers in the side channel... I would have loved to see them all scatter if some COs would have shown up (sigh, just a dream...)

I saw two guys catch an absolutely chrome 20-25 pound spring, it was really something. Gorgeous fish.

Cheers,

;D Yes it was a long day for me ;D Not really though only fished for 2 and a half hours.  I was disgusted seing all the snaggers in the side channel!!!, So many people snaging and keep dirty dirty dirty chum in there ;D yes not many people bar fish it ;) I have had great success for late coho. However not yesterday. Only managed one dirty chum. The chum have slowed down drastically. There were very few fish in the bowl.

So what do you fish with, some roe and wool?

Do you suspend the bait off the bottom with a corkie or cheater, how do you set up your presentation?

And how late have you caught chrome coho in the Stave? I've never fished it this late, and the coho I caught were all tomatoes...

Curious...

I use about 2.5 inches of pencil lead and a 3 foot leader with a big gob of nice roe. I usually only fish the stave up till around first week of dec. I also float fish the bowl witch shrimp. There are many tomatoes around but the odd chromer I would say 80%-85% are tomatoes.

I got there yesterday at about 3:30 pm and fished the last couple of hours.

The water looked pretty good.  You could see fish swimming up.  They weren't biting much.  I saw one wild coho beached and one coho jack landed the whole time I was there.

If you guys are talking of the stave - I was there all day and didn't catch "nothing" - well, I don't count the dying ones....  The snaggers were pathetic and in great numbers....  I don't know the names of where I was - but I ended up by the dam late afternoon and had two nice, not chum but something that took off - couldn't see what it was - but I lost them both before bringing them in for a closer look.....  I drove down the road late before heading back to North Vancouver but no luck.  I wish I would have known someone was there.....

Nicole - if you fly fish I would love to join you sometime when I pick mine up from Kelowna....  Actually, I have asked about one for sale on here - something I actually know how to do but never for salmon so I would love to learn.  I miss fly fishing enough.....  Let me know ok if you don't mind.  If I have bothered you - my apologies.

Good luck everyone.
