Vandalism on US rigs on the Fraser
« on: July 27, 2006, 09:28:22 PM »

Why is it that an American who pays outrageous prices for a Canadian Fishing License to enjoy some of the best fishing in the world can't leave his car in Canada without it being vandalized?

Today I went fishing around the Agassiz area and when I returned I had a flat tire.  At the time I figured it was just flat and went a head and changed it.  But upon returning home to Bellingham I noticed my car had been keyed and upon closer examination my tire had actually been slashed!  This is the second time this has happened over a three year period to me.  The first time all of my tires were slashed and the hood of my car keyed costing me over a thousand dollars to have a tow truck come out and have new tires installed.  I have never heard anything like this happening anywhere except for in Canada.  A friend of mine had his tire slashed last year while fishing on the Fraser.  What is it with Canada?  I know of a few Canadians that come down here and fish the Skagit and we would never do that to a Canadian.  Just pisses me off that some low life feels his need and desire to destroy other peoples things and especially because they are not Canadian.  Are we not really all the same when it comes right down to it? Heck I drive further to fish the Skagit than I do to fish the Fraser.  BC is a great place to visit and play and I've met a lot of super people but I can't believe the low life scum you also have!

From past posts you'll find your not along. And those that got vandalised are Canadian.
It has nothing to do with you being American.

Those "people" would trash whatever they feels like. It's a shame.

One of the drawbacks to having a temperate climate.  All the losers migrate here.  Easier than stealing out East :(   While I believe these losers will target anyone they feel is "horning in on their area", I'm pretty sure that they are stupid enough not to realise that Americans bring a tonne of cash that gets spent so that our tax dollars can continue to support programs to "help" them :<  As such, I think that "yes" foreign plates may get a bit of a worse ride, although we locals certainly get our share of damage too.

Sigh.

I'm really sorry to hear that you've had some trouble with your vehicle... Would you mind telling us where you were parked and at which launch, , maybe we can help you find a better spot to park... There are some problem areas apparently.

I don't think it has anything to do with your being american, and unfortunately there are scum everywhere, even in the states...

I had my car broken into and my suitcase stolen in LA, and I think it had everything to do with the rental car... Apparently they are avoiding putting stickers on rentals now, cause it spells $$$...

This happens to Canadians all the time, but I'm sure in a punk's mind... he would reather screw up an American car than a Canadian. which just sucks and all you can do is to park in safer areas

I had somebody punch a screwdriver 6 or 7 times through my door on one of my older cars, for no reason.  It was just idiots doing what idiots do.  I doubt your case is one of anti-american sentiment.  The "must wreck sh*t" motive likely comes from their being unhappy about not finding enough change in the last car they broke into, or the crappy sleep they had because they had the meth shivers all night.  Stupidity knows no borders!

This crap sickens me. There are jerks everywhere. I have a relatively new truck and I really won't be surprized if I come back to a vandalized or even a missing truck.
Some of these dinks think its funny to slash both boat trailer tires or even put little stones in the door locks just for kicks. What they don't realize or seem to care is that that action is potentially life threatening.

What if you have an emergency and have to get yourself or someone else to the hospital only to find that your ride is buggered up.

Why can't people just leave other people's property alone.

Bingo!

Sorry about your ride pal there is a lot of anti American issues in Canada , fueled by lots of "sound bites" in the media simple enough for these inbred meatheads to remember.

I suspect they head out to do their hard days work... stealing stuff see an American plate and do this kind of crap.

Maybe one day you will come back to the car in time to catch them in the act...

it's why I quit fishing the vedder, I got broken into in steelhead season a few years ago. I paid $700.00 to get everything fixed. We should be able to shoot all the crack heads that cause these problems.
