« on: April 10, 2007, 05:38:42 PM »

I will be going to porpoise bay and would like to get a few oysters. Anybody know a spot near there?

There's a current PSP closure in effect for Porpoise Bay.

What about Smuggler's cove? Is there anywhere in the vicinity that would have any oysters?

Smuggler's Cove closed year-round due to sanitary closure.

I didn't think anyone would give up a spot, but I thought I would ask. Oh well, I'll see if I can do some searching on my own.

It's not that.  Is just it's the wrong time of year.  Checkout DFO site you'll see most area around Lower Sunshine Coast is now closed due to PSP (redtide) and most bays' closed year round due to sanitory closure.

i was camping  a few years ago during a red tide band.  A family next to us picked and ate lots of oysters and didn't suffer any ill effects.  this was during may long up at silver sands camp ground.  We used to pick oysters out of smugglers all the time too.
