Solitude and fishing on the Kenai River in Alaska. Not.
« on: August 02, 2007, 02:49:44 PM »

So some of you may have heard of the "world famous" Kenai river in Alaska. Well a friend came back and said fishing was great for "reds" (sockeye) but said it was more "combat" style fishing then anything else.

I thought this was weird since I think of Alaska sort of as the final frontier.

So I looked up on youtube and lo and behold, combat fishing at it's finest even in Alaska - makes the Vedder look not so bad when you consider how close it is to a major city lol...and yes, they are bottom bouncing predominantly.

The funny thing is that the sockeyes are probably moving upstream behind where the fishermen are casting.

Besides able to release unintended species, another reason why we use barbless hooks here in BC - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6HUN0-UlGc&mode=related&search=
