Wanted: Fishing Kayak
« on: February 15, 2015, 02:41:03 PM »

Hi there,

I am looking for a deal on a kayak. Located in Mackenzie, willing to drive a ways to pick it up. (eg. FSJ, Dawson Creek, Quesnel, Smithers.)

You wouldn't believe how hard it is to buy a kayak when you live in Mackenzie.

Let me know what you've got!

Thanks!

I'm sure a Canadian Tire could bring one in for you.

They sure can, but they almost exclusively carry Pelican brand boats which I have found to be of dubious quality - especially considering what you pay. Would rather drive 200km for a deal on a good used boat than a new one that I'd be unhappy with.

I bought the cheapest pelican one from CT I could find, fitted it with rod holders, paddle holders and an anchor system. Used lots, it's holding up fine.

Keep moving south if you can't find a deal here... More in Washington. Every now and then stuff comes up but deals on fishing kayaks don't come often and at this time of year...
Also try western canoes and kayaks as they sometimes have demos for sale. Craigslist is your best bet Though.

I have an Ocean Kayak Trident 13 ft which I used only 4 times in small lakes ( Mike n Rolley Lakes) It is in mint condition, Also, has an Eagle fish finder and transducer on it. Has 2 rod holders. Also have kayak stands, and a $250 (US) double sided oar.Spent well over $2,000 US  and am willing to part with it. You can make me an offer I am willing to consider any reasonable offer as I do not use it any longer. Has been in my garage for 3 years now.

Heard good things (for the price) of sun dolphin -

sit on -  http://www.sundolphin.com/sit-on-fishing/
sit in - http://www.sundolphin.com/sit-in-fishing/

good prices in the US from home depot and walmart... free shipping in the US (so ship to a border company for pick up)
