« on: August 10, 2005, 12:31:44 AM »

Hi  all, I am heading up to a friends cabin next week which is on sarah point north of powell river in Desolation Sound . I have access to a boat ,and have ocean fished before but never fished this area. Any tips or guidance are appreciated. Looking to be targeting salmon.

Thanks DaN

Desolation itself isn't known for fantastic fishing, but you can head out near Savary or over to Grants reef (between Harwood and Savary) and try your luck. If you do Grants, it's shallower that you think so watch your gear. There used to be some fun spots off East Redonda as well, but it's been a long time since I fished there.

Most of the "serious" Powell River fisherman head to the north island now. The water in the sound is just too warm I think.

Good luck!
