Well I'd like to educate you people who are against the Boxing Day derby. First of all , all the proceeds go toward steelhead enhancement . Secondly, all fish that are caught are hatchery fish, which are genetically inferior to wild fish . Thirdly are you also against people having some fresh hole some meat to consume , instead of this crap you buy in stores?

All fishing derby's!? regardless of hatchery/wild fish contests, fresh/salt? there are some pretty cool derby's out there to be against all of them.
Humans are competitive by nature, derby's and leader boards allow people to use this competitive nature in order to get out, work hard and have a good time

Brian the fisherman , of course there's fish in the system , but they're scarce at the moment. As the season progresses that will change . When there are no steelhead weighed in ,  other than a couple of fishers who weren't registered. That's a pretty good indication of the numbers. I too am a local fisherman. I've fished the vedder for over 50 years. My dad, born in 1904 in chilliwack , fished the vedder all his life. My grandfather fished the vedder in the 1800s. As a pioneer family of chilliwack , we do know something about the river.

Well boxing day is almost here and there has been little to no advertising for this event unlike in years past. Has anyone got any info besides the obvious that it is on boxing day?

I would like to attend this years derby. How much is the derby fee? Where can I purchase it? And can I buy it online as I will be in Vancouver?

There are usually advance tickets available at a few tackle stores, but I just get mine the morning of the derby, at the Chilliwack fish and game club.

I've sent in another request for this year's derby information.

In the meantime, here's information from last year's derby. No changes are expected for this year, so I have been told.

We will be at the fish and game club to purchase our tickets.
Good luck to everyone that will be attending the derby. This will be my first time in a couple years since I last was able to attend one and I can not wait till tomorrow.
