Yes you are.
I just tear the head of by the gills and your legal.
Believe it or not,you actually legally have to remove the head of your ditch eels too. ::)

Is there a logical reasoning for removing the head of a bait fish ?

I'm sure it can work all season, but I prefer to use it from late summer and fall.
I'll be throwing some today along with the rest of the stuff I bring.
Gotta have a selection :)

You used to be able to dig for ditch eels but it's illegal to do so now.

I've had a lot of success using Northern Pikeminnow. They smell like hell fresh and after a day sitting in a bucket of water....sturgeon can smell that for miles!

Ditch eel is still a legal bait to use for white sturgeon, anglers just have to get them the legal way. Purchasing them from stores is basically the only option, as trapping for them is prohibited in this province.

i use ooly's and have had minimal success - but fished mostly this winter. I bought some sturgeon sent from states and I'm now wondering  if it's legal to use?
