Hey guys

Been out 4 times since opening with nothing to show- that's fishing :).

Most of my experience is with float fishing in smaller tribs. I know spin casting is pretty simple, but, at the risk of sounding dumb I would like to ask those more experienced the following:

When casting where do you aim for the lure to travel? (Distance off bottom)

I always try to vary my retrieve speed but I am not sure if I should let the lure sink before retrieve or what....

As you can see I'm kind of all over the map so any pointers would be greatly appreciated

Thanks and  tight lines out there!

If others are catching and you are not, then check out what they use - how heavy are thier lures or whether lead is added, the retrieval speed, and perhaps the kind of lure used. Just copy success.  Recently I find that the guys around catching fish were using lead to sink their light spoons, or use heavier lure like buzz bomb. I think when the fish are not coming in with large school, perhaps the fish stay down deeper in migration.

Spincasting is simple, catching a lot of fish with spincasting is not simple...

The difference in retrieve speed can determine whether you catch a lot or don't catch any at all. No precise answer for that. Some days a faster retrieve works better, while other days the opposite produces more.

my lesson from an experienced angler was to retrieve slow and then go even slower than that.  I sometimes do a bit of a speed up and then slow it right back down.  has worked okay for me.

Sounds good guys thanks for the replys. I will just continue trying everything lol. The way I see, it's just odds the more time I spend eventually I am going to hit the schools passing by. Been spending a lot of time at north arm maybe less productive but there will be some for sure.

Out of 16 million pinks I'm sure a couple will find your lure. :)
