Osoyoos Lake fishing
« on: September 14, 2014, 02:36:21 PM »

I am going to Osoyoos Lake next week, and wanted to do some fishing while I am there.

From searching on the forum here I see that there is a nice assortment of fish available to fish for.

I also noticed that the sockeye opening has already ended. I wanted to troll for kokanee in my kayak but I dont want to catch sockeye by accident. Is the run mostly over already? Or is there anything I can do to avoid sockeye but target kokanee? I was thinking of trolling a jughead with a hoochie...

What about targetting other species? Im thinking Carp would be bottom fishing with bait, bass would be fishing cover with plastics, trout with spinners/spoons or bait under a float? What do crappie bite at? Also, what hook sizes would I be wanting for each of these species?

Thanks for any advice!

Bass... I was just up there, not fishing Osoyoos lake but definitely set up for Bass. Natural colours... aggressive cast and retrieve crankbaits, poppers etc...
