Here come the Springs!!!!!!!!!!!

18 Chinook caught at the Whonnock test fishery yesterday as well as 68 Sockeye. Things are starting to look better. Opening day on the 16th should produce quite a few fish.

Unfortunately the water clarity will be too poor to get them to bite in the mainstream Fraser :-\ ::)

Sockeye and coho numbers out in the area 20 gill net have been very strong so far albeit early.

As much as I would like to try sockeye and springs, no way I'm going anywhere near the Vedder, it would probably turn me off fishing all together lol.

River Opens on the 16th, but how long after that will we be fighting over the first exposed bars to surface?

Also for those brave souls fishing from shore be careful. To give you an idea the Fraser River which runs parallel to Ballem Road in Chilliwack is right up to the top of the road. I have never seen the river this high before as it should be ten feet below the road for this time of year - easily. So if you do not have  a boat use extreme caution when fishing from shore. Unless the Fraser drops super quick the old familiar landmarks will be underwater for more than a few weeks.  Which means most of the bars will be submerged till mid August.
Also, take plenty of bug spray with you the mosquitoes will be terrible this year.
