FOC Updated Fishing Plans On The Fraser
« on: June 07, 2010, 10:45:44 AM »

For anyone interested.

Hey everyone, as you know DFO has been working very hard to minimize impacts on spring chinook in all fisheries.   Fishing plans for the recreational fishery have been negotiated and notices have been sent out.  If you do not have this information please feel free to contact me or check the following: http://www-ops2.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/xnet/content/fns/index.cfm

The Department has also been negotiating with the First Nations in the Fraser River.  To date only very limited fishing opportunities have been provided for specific important events.  The Department has now agreed to a fishing plan for the month of June for the Bands from the Port Mann Bridge up to Sawmill Creek.  The fishery for this area is:

June 11 - 24 hour set net fishery (Fri 7pm - 7pm); 8 hour drift net (Sat 8am-4pm)
June 25 - 24 hour set net fishery (Fri 7pm - 7pm); 8 hour drift net (Sat 8am-4pm)
A fishing plan has not been set in the area below the Port Mann Bridge but it will likely be a similar amount of time.
Notification of these fisheries will be on our internet site as the licences are issued and will be posted at: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fraserriver/firstnations/firstnationsLF_e.htm

Should you see activity fishing outside of these fishing times, and you have checked the above site and there is no licence in place, I encourage you to call our Observe, Record & Report line at 1-800-465-4336.

Do you have the info on recreational openings?

I don't see any on their website.

Probably won't be a sport opening till July 16/10 and a possible slot size as well.
This is what we have heard as well.
