Cheakamus River November 26th, 2006
« on: November 27, 2006, 01:51:59 PM »

I woke up at 3:00 am on Sunday morning. Got out of bed at 4:00 am and was on the road from downtown Van to Squamish in the trusty Jetta at 5:45 am. Everyone who knows me has said, "You drove to Squamish to go fishing? In all the snow? Are you crazy?". Well, the Jetta handles pretty well in the snow and I swear there were some places on the Sea to Sky where I was the first car to make tracks in the falling snow. Let me tell you , the anti-skid function in the Jetta comes in pretty handy.

My office is cold today so here is the Cole's notes version:

Water visibility: 4 feet or greater.

Catch for the day: After some debate, my first Jack Coho (C&R), thanks Rodney), one Dolly (C&R), 5 larger Cohos (mostly Tomatoes) and one very ugly Lord Chumley.

Also fished: The Mamquam - great vis, no fish.

Did you know you can freeze your waders stiff ?  ;D

See pics.

Very very nice kelso - you do indeed rock. Was that a green bodied home made spinner you caught the coho on?

Kelso, that is not a coho. ;D

That was my first thought when I glanced at it. After I looked even closer, it is still not a coho. :)

That is a jack chinook.

Features:

Large spots relative to the size of the body.
The spots on the bottom portion of the caudal fin/tail.

Correct me if I am wrong please anyway. bkk? :)

I've never seen a jack chinook on the Squamish tributaries this time of the year. :o

Nice fish though. ;)

dennisK,

It was a silver hammered Colorado with three green beads at the top. Also had some non-hammered and some copper colored ones for the day courtesy and my buddy Gwyne and the guys at Highwater Tackle.
