Also was basically the only way you could fly fish there

I used to fly fish from the shore just wading in a bit
I hooked my biggest cutty to date in there apporx 14"
One day i was there with no one else on the water
the fishing was slow and only a couple of takers
Then this big storm hit
it was so windy and raining so heavy that i took cover in my car
but after about 20 min i decided it had calmed down enough for me to cast
the fish were going crazy slamming my fly
i guess something was getting pushed up from the bottom (lake turing over) and they were feeding on it
then just as the storm passed you would think someone had emptied the lake of fish not another bite all day

Looks just like it did ten years ago. I remember they used to stock brood stock in there all the time just like they do at mill lake.

I've fished there too. Use to live in Morgan Creek and used to take the kids there to practice.

i have heard rumours of a lake in brookswood stocked but its private so its not worth the hassle...

Our investigator first visited the site on July 13, 2005. At that time, on-site development
led to the draining of a small lake known as Latimer Pond (aka Stokes
Pit) on the northern end of the property. For years this had been a popular family
fishing hole. The lake level was so low our investigator could, and did, walk across
the lake bottom.
The southeast corner of the property had several small streams that were tributary
to the Little Campbell River. One significant creek (one to two metres wide)
that was home to hundreds of juvenile salmon (coho) and some trout (steelhead)
fry had been stripped of its riparian vegetation and there were numerous points of
entry for silt and sediment running off the cleared property around it.
A second smaller stream that was tributary to this creek and that would have
been accessible to fish was completely blocked off by a huge mound of dirt placed
into the channel to form a vehicle crossing with no culvert.

im just wondering what avenues one would take to maybe get the city of surrey  and the fisheries to reconsider the option of restocking this lake sure is a shame to have a little gem like this sit idle,sounds like alot of folks have some fond memories of this lake.

I would love to see this lake restored and revived so we can once again catch some trout in there. My biggest out of here was pushing 10lbs

that was most definitely a brood stock from the hatchery.

if you look at the stocking database you can see when they release them.  the average size goes from under 300 grams to over 2800.

I already knew that Fonda but thanks LOL I only said it because the big ones in there werent caught very often because the smaller guys hit so regularly

well said i did see a man in a float tube do real well with the lunkers in that pond as us shore fisherman swung it out with the fingerlings. it is a shame on how a good thing can be gone so quickly. i always wonder if brydon lagoon could support a small fishery  being in the city of langley it could get some of the kids to put down the meth pipe and pick up a fishing rod...

One memory of this lake...we were kids so money was an object.

we would take our flyrods with floating line...no flies just hooks.

our "fly" of choice during the daytime would be a small dandelion flower skated on the surface...when dusk was arriving even a little chunk of wood skated on the surface would catch em

lol iv been fishing on a small river (sumalo in sunshine valley) and i ran out of dry flies and all my wet flies were bead headed and were getting to deep so i put a bunch of cotton on a bare hook and caught lots of rainbows in the 14-20" range sum big fish in there.
