Anybody got any recent reports on the Squamish ? My nephew is wanting to head up there this weekend.

been there yesterday,not too many fish,but make sure you come in the incoming tide to enjoy the day,good luck,tight line!

Retension of Chum just opened on Tuesday.

One of the few places you can get a really clean Chum.

Can anyone confirm the chum retention?  I am a little surprised by this and already once this season, an mis-informed creel-surveyer on the Norrish led people to wrongly believe they could retain chum.  Nothing personal Easywater, just this is very good news (means the numbers of chum are better this year after a couple hard years- this also should mean better fishing for bulls this winter).

No, revisit the thread, it was misunderstanding after the resource manager talked to the creel surveyor to find out what happened.

By the way, up until recently, I didn't retain any fish.  Thus, I can't remember checking any of the Squamish, Mamquam, Cheak coho for a clipped fin.  Is the Cheak (and obvious the Squamish downstream of the the cheak) the only one with clipped coho?  Is there any enhancement of the Mamquam?... there's nothing on-river, but do they truck fish over from Tenderfoot or is that just a Cheak fish operation?  I think I remember a hatchery coho from the mouth of the Mamquam (on the Squamish), but memory's kind of fuzzy.

Again, no, the correct information was given, the document (sample study) that the creel surveyor was holding was being mistakened as the fishery notice. Also, the angler did not retain chum salmon because of what the creel surveyor was saying. It is not the creel surveyor's job to inform anglers on fishery regulations and anglers should not be asking creel surveyors about regulations, as I have stated in the other thread.

And yes, there is a problem with speed of updates on the static regulation pages. That problem has been brought up many times by sportfishing reps. You should also send an email in to express your concerns.

No worries Matt. It is rare that I point out incorrect information but when I do, it's usually because I think it is important others who are reading understand how the fishery management works (ie. don't ask creel surveyor about the current regulations, etc). Nothing personal. Cheers.

Dereke, yes latest updates and closures are available in the general section, but most anglers go directly to the region-specific sections to see what they can keep. Matt was referring to this page:

Even though the fishery notice is out and the opening/closure section has been updated, if you scroll down to the Squamish River section, the chum salmon daily quota remains as zero with a link to the previous fishery notice. That's where the problem is.

Also, FYI for other readers, when fishery notices come out, I usually have them available on the front page of the website http://www.fishingwithrod.com/ right away as the notices arrive in my inbox at the same time as when they come out. I also do my best to list them under the right section in my Lower Mainland fishing report http://www.fishingwithrod.com/fishing_report/lower_mainland.html.

I am new to fishing in BC. Where exactly is the spot at Squamish? I am thinking about heading out tomorrow. Was thinking to try the Stave one last time or back to the Vedder.

Brackendale would be a choice. At the end of Judd road there is fisherman` parking lot for the public.
