Islander bearing question
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:12:14 PM »

Is there any way to know what type of bearing installed on Islander - ABEC 3 or factory upgraded ABEC 7?

they sound different.

most will have the stock abec3's which are quieter.  The 7's are ceramic and have a hollow sound.  I prefer the 3's because of the noise.  It was very noticeable on the reels I spun.

I've only spun them up, I never took them apart to look at, but some bearings will be marked.

Thanks Brian. But  if you have just one reel. Does Islander put some notes in document to identify that reel has ABEC 3 or ABEC 7?
