Is there largies in deer lake? I live in burnaby and I want to catch one. Could someone show me a decent picture?Help would be appreciated.

There are absolutely largemouth in Deer Lake. Average size is quite small but they are there. Got 3 or 4  in the 8-10" range a few weeks ago on spinnerbaits. Sometimes you'll see a school up to 15-20 tiny (3-4") bass following your lure, so they are definitely there...

Thx for the advice.Ask more ppl to come over to this subject and see there recomendations.They say that most bass in the lake are a bit small because they were just introduced a few years ago.But most people caught some normal-sizers.One member caught a gnarly, chunky, big one.Chances of getting a real lunker are good.

Haven't caught a single fish in deer lake back then.All because the trout get fed hatchery food and will only prefer it and they will reject lures and baits.Ive seen something that looked familiar under the dock and near the lillypad-covered area.Was fishing for carp.

Gonna call RAPP if I see someone dumping 10 huge buckets of bass in the lake.

10 buckets would be impressive. I'd be more impressed by them trucking 10 buckets around safely and the accumulation of those fish in said buckets.

I would like to see some one with a decent bass in a picture, lure used, and the size and weight of the fish caught.One thing is that one theory about how the bass got in deer lake is that it connects to Burnaby lake, brunette river, and still creek.Bass live in Burnaby lake (both largies and smallies) so they must have found a way to the lake.However,I think the government is planning to put cyanide or some fish poison in the lake and restock it.

when I have fished there I have had no problem catching trout using flies. Berkley Power bait is supposedly based on the same formula as hatchery fish food. Based on my extensive experience put and take hatchery trout quickly switch to natural food items such as chironomids, nymphs, dry flies and small minnows.

Well, I don't think they'll use cyanide though. It just stuns the fish in small concentrations. And if the concentration is high wouldn't it also kill the animals, birds etc. ?

On the topic. There is bass in the lake all right. I had a huge one come off the line two weeks ago, was pulling like a horse! My son got 9 fly fishing on a wet fly (minnow imitation) last weekend.

When a lake is killed off due to illegal invasive stockings, rotenone is the compound used and NOT Cyanide....
