Stamp River Steelhead January 13th
« on: January 13, 2007, 11:31:51 PM »

Just came back from a few cold days over there, river dropping really nice now, color is great and the fish are in all the high water holding spots. Lots of fish around, only hooked 2 summer runs the whole time which was a big change from a month ago when we were there.  Did 2 days from shore and 1 from the boat, had a great time other than snapping my 3113 !!   :'(     Saw 420247 and his buddy yesterday with Rollie in the jet- both looking cold but happy.   A C.O. came out of the woods in the middle of NOWHERE behind us this morning in CAMO and freaked the crap out of us checking for bait use. Other than the change of underpants that was needed after that scare, it was good to see their presence on the water- I told him to visit the Vedder to get more business!  Good luck all in the derby tomorrow! Here are a couple of pics-

Nice work! I have never really bothered with that system prefering to hit the Gold when I am on the island. Is it worth going without a boat?

Nice fish and report sucks about the sage but that is what the warrenty is for I quess!

using boat isn't necessary, but we always do 1 day from a boat when we go over there just to find the water we couldn't get to from shore, but there isn't a huge problem finding fish from the bank.

must say thats a beaut of a steelie go fish.... got back from the stamp river late sunday nyte and woke up monday morning so sick i couldnt even walk, just had no energy what so ever but now im good again and can post a report........ the fishing over there was awsome..... hooked quite a few but didnt land as many as was hoping....... rollie was our guide and what a great guide he is,... being out in a jetboat is quite the experience every1 should try, kinda pricey buy definatly worth the cash....... came home with 2 hatcheries... coulda been 3 but decided i have enough meat in the freezer so decided to let one go for someone else to wack...... water conditions were perfect other then being a lil high.... crystal clear river.... easily 5-7 feet visability..... every spot our guide told us there was a fish,... there was..... in 1 lil run alone we hit 5 fish in 6 casts so that was prety cool....... this was my first time fishing the river and had no trouble finding good shore access and hooked quite a few off shore.... lost a few due to tree roots and branches in the water but thats what makes steelheading fun... learning to work with the obsitcles thrown at ya....... anyways a few pictures in my album for anyone who wants to take a look..... dont know if this is the egzact link myte have to fiddle with it a bit......

rollie kept 1/2 the roe...... i didnt use roe on the trip but my buddy did so we decided it was only fiar to replace the roe my buddy used so that future clients have quality bait to use....... i didnt use bait at all.... you wouldnt belive how hard these steelies hit the simple stuff like wool combos and gooey bobs....... just hammered them

i only landed 3 hatcheries...but landed quite a few wilds..... VERY BRIGHT FISH, got a pic of 1 in my album thats just GLOWING!!!!!!!!!! between 2 of us on the guide boat we had about 20 hook ups....... off shore i had about 7-8 hook ups and my buddy about 5 hook ups... get in there early for shore access...... good spots crowd FAST!!!!!
