Being a rather large man with size 14 feet, I have had a hard time finding felt-bottom river boots in my size. I've seen the repair kits at A&N but didn't like the heel in the pack they had.
Decided to hit Michael's recently to find some materials to do them up myself. Ended up using about 1/2 a tube of E-6000 glue and a couple pieces of cheap felt. Total investment - under $11.
I have used them three times with a fair amount of hiking each day - still holding up pretty well.

The felt could be thicker and more durable, but the glue seems to be holding very well. I cant believe how much of a difference this makes! Waaaay less dodgy crossing slippery rocks now.

Anyone else have any other ideas or successes in this department?

nice, my dad had these old boots and the felt was totally worn off, he took em to the cobbler and he re felted em for super cheap, cant remember exactly how much. But I wonder if they would throw felt on some normal hiking boots? Either way, under 11 bucks for the safety and satisfaction of having felt soles is pretty rockin!!
