Was in Costco here in Ottawa on the weekend looking for some salmon. The only fresh salmon they had was west coast Atlantic salmon which I will not buy. Then I went to the freezer section and they had Keta Salmon from Alaska. Said to myself Keta Salmon? Never heard of it. So I bought some to try out along with a 24 inch filet of Steelhead frozen. That cost me 16 bucks. Anyhow I get home and google Keta Salmon. Otherwise known in B.C. as chum or dog fish. Nice, isnt a chum a chum no matter where its from? Did the people in Alaska give it this name to make it more marketable to the unknown? Is chum good eating? my buddy from Victoria says he never eats them. I guess I will give it a try and if I dont like it I know my fishing buddy outside will. Hes a 100 lb Alaskan Malamute and goes nuts over frozen fish. Whats your opinion? Thanks in advance.
