Nanaimo Area
« on: October 19, 2008, 05:21:08 PM »

Heading over to Nanaimo this weekend to break in the old camper I just fixed up.... ive never fished around there and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a decent river somewhat close by... I have both a fly and float set up for salmon and was looking for a decent camper spot close to a river to fish... any ideas would be great!!!!

I was thinking of that.... the trout should be nailing the egg patterns.... what about the nanaimo river? Is it worth having a look?

Lived in Nanaimo 15 to 18 years ago.
The Nanaimo River used to fish well for trout between third and fourth lakes. (Third Lake is nothing more than a small pond).
Fishing for coho used to be good anywhere below the "Bore"hole.

Hope that helps

The Cowichan is an hour from Nanaimo but just remember its fly only right now. Also their is no salmon fishing. If going to he Cowichan I would make sure you check the regs as their are many areas that are completely closed.
