Nice pile perch you got. It's so hard to get them at Ambleside as most of the time shiners will be first to take the bait. or pick off the bait.

I find that the trick is to use a larger hook (I like size 6).  Then the shiners won't get stuck and you can uses a larger piece of bait so it takes longer for them to eat it off.  ;)

I love stripped perch.  For the size they're about the scrappiest fish going!

In a blind taste test you couldn't tell the difference between stripped and pile perch.  Plus, stripped perch are magnificent to behold. :o

I find that thick sea worms are the best for big perch .. the shiner perch do nible but they get scared when the sea warms are quite thick.. i use the head of the sea worm because its almost like a leather and stays on for about 5 catches..

Perch or sea worms?   Perch, yes, very.  Seaworms, well... a little less so  :P  ;)

The only problem I have with fishing with sea worms is that if I'm catching seaworms I'm not fishing!!  I'm sure you see my trouble.

phat wop i think you are thinking of tube worms...they work great for greenling but not so much for perch in my experience!  Sunshine coast a couple years ago i had a MASSIVE seaworm bite me.  it hurts like hell...they have a jaw in the front like a dragonfly nymph, it comes out just like "aliens" and locks on...YYEEEEOOOUUUCCCHHH!!!  Try it yourself for some fun !

Nice work Jighead!
