Merritt area lakes ice report?
« on: February 09, 2021, 02:25:51 PM »

Really want to give ice fishing a try this winter but can't (and shouldn't) travel far to do so. There are a few lakes in the Merritt area we could easily hit for a day trip but I can't find any info on if they're solid enough. Thinking maybe either Kane Valley or up near Marquart? (super open to other suggestions if you're willing to share). I'd really like to try for brook trout but not picky, just want a relatively easy place to take the kids for the day.

Anyone been up in that area that can share a report?

Ice thickness is about 10 inches, and it's very solid, especially this week.... The lakes you mentioned are all good options.

I would wait until this series of cold snaps and snow warnings is over before driving over the Coq to ice fish.

Thanks for the info Rod! Definitely don't want to tackle the coq over the next few days haha.
