Is anyone fishing the upper fraser (Chiliwack - Hope area)?
I've never fished it and might give it a try, but the water looks pretty high right now. Is it fishable?

I recommend building a tree house, and start fishing from there 

no bars in this town  or shore there of....

When the river hits 6.5M in Hope, you will be able to get across to Laidlaw.

why bother!

this is the worst year on record for the last 50 years! with the size restriction you would be hard pressed to find one you can bring home. i would say leave the bars alone this year.

I don't usually keep fish.. i go for the enjoyment and the challenge.

This time of year it is very common to catch fish in the 10-18lb range that being said it is not reely uncommon not to hook one in the 20's (not a keeper) but the major runs of huge Chinook do not come in the river in huge numbers until the middle of July (from what I have found) I do not see a problem with the restrictions right now...but if a big bump of bigger fish come in mid july the last 2-3 weeks of the "restricted opening" could see a little bit of c&r action which is not a huge problem if your using the right method/gear for fighting these fish quick!

....but why risk it with the runs hurting so bad?  I don't get this mentality....people always talk conservation until it comes to their own "fun"....and then exceptions are made.  I don't doubt that with very heavy gear you could *probably* get these fish in without beating the tar out of them....but then you have a fish in fairly shallow water , at the end of a line, thrashing around ......what's the point???  If people REALLY cared they'd just leave them alone.

man you have a cross to burn. There ARE fish, there IS an opening, and there's nothing wrong with spending an afternoon with a bar rig trying to get one. Quit complaining
