Arrived at the Hydro Rail bridge about 8:30.  A few people working the area.  Quite a few pinks being caught thru out the day.  Did not see any other species being caught.  Nice to have some room to fish after the Fraser sockeye fiasco.   

It was good to see the Home Depot Team out cleaning up the area.  They had about 15 people working hard, they were down on their knees looking for broken glass.  Highest kudos to the volunteer clean up crew from Home Depot.

Good on them! I was fishing around the lower train bridge the other day and didn't see too much garbage at all, and picked up the few pieces I did see. Lots of pinks around but haven't connected with anything else yet either.

if your not finding any springs then your not targetting the right water or getting your presentation away from the hoards of pinks well enough  I normally will just fly fish and i catch pinks (tons), jack springs and coho and sometimes even an adult spring or two

I fished the Canal.  I caught only Pinks on fly & pin.  I really had to work for my fish & I was alarmed how most were starting to turn a bit, already.  I believe some rain will spread them out a bit & get them biting more...  The water was very clear.  Nonetheless, it's never a bad day when yer fishin'

Not surprised that the pinks would be getting  into their spawning colors. Once they hit the Vedder the pinks will color fairly quickly as they get ready to spawn. From nature's point of view they are home and ready to complete the final phase of their life.

I guess when I went 2 years ago there must have been a fresh push 'cuz they were chrome...

Thats not true. Chinook, coho, chum and sockeye also come up the Vedder and you will encounter several chrome fish in all those species. Its just the luck of the draw

That's true but we are talking about pink salmon here on the Vedder.

Pinks tend to turn quite quickly compared to other salmon like coho.

You may get the odd one that is worthwhile keeping but most are showing their spawning colours.  If you can't see even a hint of silver or chrome, my advice is to let it go.  Even Rodney's fish cake recipe won't help those ones!

I have to echo the sentiments about the coloured Pinks. Fished from the Crossing down to the Canal. There are fish around, but most are coloured and didn't seem interested in biting. Maybe some rain will bring in a push of fresh fish. Or maybe we're all just spoiled.

I've been fishing down at the mouth and most of the fish are chrome and still have sea lice on them. Everyone seems to be catching fish. I've been using flies as most people have as well and there are brief periods where it is a fish a cast. You have to put up with the boat traffic but its not too bad.
