It is more sensitive than the Trophy, am not sure if it is lighter especially being a foot longer, good all round rod for fish 4-20lbs, too long for small streams fishing in the bushes IMO but good for anything from say Capilano to Vedder size water. Very durable, deliberately tried to break mine this fall bending it to the cork holding mid 20s springs in swift water with 20lb leader and failed to break it. As Mr P said cork is on the fat side but you can sand it down, depends on your hands really, I find it OK. Balances good with a heavier / bigger reel ie Islander, Silex, Avon, Okuma. If you are looking for something a bit lighter for smaller water I'd go with the 9 or 10' Trophy XL light mooching / bucktail rod which are about 100 bucks and are sweet Coho / Steely sticks.

Thanks for the info nick! I think ill buy this rod...have you ever hooked pinks in non-ripping water with this rod? Did they put up a good battle on the amundson?

Its ok but a bit heavy, you seem to want a rod that is perfect for everything and they don't exist. Right now I have the 11'6 Amundson for Steelies and Salmon on the larger rivers and a 9' Trophy for smaller flows. Ideally I would also like a 10'6 noodle like a sage 1106 for bluebacks / pinks and a 9 or 10' heavy mooching / cp rod for beating up big springs with but you can't have everything in life and I would rather keep extending my spey / switch rod collection  :)

Also for pinks get a cheap 9 or 10' 6 or 7wt fly rod, way more fun and often more productive IMO.

Why do you say sage rods are not easy to replace. I have never had a problem getting my sage "brown blanks" replaced!  ::)

What kind of misinformation is that?  ???

Sage has the best no-nonsense lifetime replacement warranty of all rod makers out there. Pay 50 bucks for processing and you get a new rod every time. :)
I wish I could afford my every rod to be a Sage!
