first starting out
« on: September 03, 2011, 12:54:45 PM »

I just went through my old tackle box last night. I found whole bunch of lures still in their packaging...they have to be at least 4 years or older. This is when I first started fishing for salmon, and apparently thought the way to catch these guys was with tons of lures lol. I have tons of little pink buzz bombs and other buzz bombs wedding bands the list is endless. Im guessing my local tackle had a good laugh at the newbie buying all these lures. i mainly shortfloat and fly fish now. odd day i might chuck a lure for a salmon. anyone else experience this looking back?

When i first started salmon fishing i was in grade 8. and just like you i was obsessed with the lures. I boughts pack of Crocs, some Blue fox's and even Mepps aglia lure lol... what didn't help was that I caught my first Hatchery Coho on a Blue Croc under a float that year ahahah... just reinforced the "lure appeal" at that time...

I also love throwing lures for coho ever now and then. I use the same spinning outfit that I would use for pinks. Every now and then it is nice to change things up.

I bought myself a quality spin set up this season so I can toss hardware more effectively at coho
