what size rod would i need to fish for cutties on small river/sloughs in the lower mainland?

i have a small fly rod but it doesn't say the weight so I'm not to sure
 it feels really light but Ive never fly fished before so i don't know how they feel

I would say a 4 or 5wt. The 5wt will make it easier for when the wind picks up.

Like BB said a 5wt is great when the wind comes up, I use a 3wt most
of the time but the 5wt. is in the truck just in case. Also depends were
in the LML I am fishing. If I am going to be on a small, less than 40 ft
across the 3 wt will do unless we have a strong wind. For most of the
sloughs and bigger rivers I take my 5wt.

Like it's been said a nice little inexpensive 5wt will be fine it'll let you have some fun and be a great stillwater trout rod also. Once you turn into a full out fly junkie you can add all sorts of unnecessary rods to your quiver, 3wt's are a fun little rod though. I've got a couple

I use both but the 5 is best.  There are bigger fish than cutties in some of these sloughs and streams that will take a fly too.

I use a 6wt. but thats because I have had Coho hit the flies I am using to. So it's just to be safe. 3 or 5 should work fine

This time of year its not the coho you need to worry about but the bigger bulls (and if you're in the right areas, steelhead...thanks nik!) that sometimes hang around the cutties.  Good times!
