Great looking reel.  Don't believe that it is gold plated nor nickel.  I have had two nickel plated Kingfishers and one Talisman, and the finish is different .  I don't believe John does nickel any more.  It says on the box that it is "silver" in colour finish-plating.  Not stirring the pot just attempting to clarify your ad. 
Lots of luck in selling it.
