--If you are really interested, join a local club if none exists you could join BC federation of Fly Fishers as a direct member.
--Clubs usually have instructors or bring in experts.
--Some clubs have restricted memberships but many like Penticton Flyfishers (obviously in penticton) are open to anyone interested in fly fishing.
--Our club is a member of BCFFF and BCWF
--We bring in certified casting instructors and often have guest speakers free or minimal cost to members. Also have free to club members fly tying sessions.
--A good mix of beginner to expert members

Thanks for all the tips and info everyone

HOOK, I will email you once I pick up a rod and reel. Going to start looking to buy probably in the next couple of weeks. Most likely will go to Sea-Run for my set up as they've been good to me.

jimmywits, I'll have to look for that book. Or at least try and find a copy in the library to read
Do that Van cook, when I started fly-fishing I did not find it (the Gilly) in any way shape or form too complex or advanced, quite the opposite. It starts from square one, and progresses logically and methodically to give a beginner a solid basic understanding of the subject. Obtain a copy and you be the judge!   Tight lines

Newsman's recommendation of the book "The Gilly", is stellar advice! I read that book many times over and never hestitate to recommend it to newbies that are wanting to learn about fly fishing...

For me, the quality of a trout is not measured in pounds and inches, but rather by the journey and circumstances that allowed our paths to cross...
