They closed the Road to all a little further up from ON The Way. All those cows you saw in that Video have all floated off to a better place, no joke. :o

Floated off as to a drier pasture or to the great steakplate in the sky?

Up 2 meters in as many days...crazy...

We're seeing it pretty wet on the island too, saw on the news that the previous record for Victoria rainfall was 21 mm or something, Sooke got 116mm today... :o

We used to get some whicked Typhoons in Taiwan and HK, but it is pretty far for a single storm to travel, although this could just be the edge of it as it disperses...

Actually this rainfall is caused by the Pacific Ocean subtropical jet stream that brings moisture from Hawaii.

November 7th, 2006 photos
Forget roe, this is how the locals catch their fish. ;) The photos were taken this morning when Chris and several others discovered chum salmon (very fresh ones as you can see) being trapped (in what used to be a trail) as the water started to drop in the canal. Global news crew was also on site to film the whole rescue operation. They estimated around 35 chum salmon were scooped and released into the main flow. You can see more of this tonight in the news.

Can't do that.  It would expose bridge columbs if gravel extraction take place there.
