Get Hooked … Have Fun on June 16, 17, 18
Posted on June 12th, 2006 by BC Family Fishing Weekend Society

Going Fishing is as easy as 1…2…3 during BC's Family Fishing Weekend. We encourage everyone to try his or her hand at angling in British Columbia as part of the annual BC's Family Fishing Weekend (June 16, 17 and 18).

One: You can go freshwater fishing for FREE in many of BC's lakes and non-tidal streams without having to purchase or carry a basic freshwater licence during BC's Family Fishing Weekend. Fishing in tidal waters requires a fishing licence but is FREE for those under 16 years of age.

Two: You can visit one of our popular FREE to attend community fishing events and learn how-to-fish from expert volunteers.

Three: Visit our helpful website and find out about fishing. Learn how-to-fish, locate great places to go fishing, and even enter to win fishing trip and fish tackle prizes.

So dust off your rods and reels, round up the kids, and enjoy some quality time outdoors by going fishing with your family. You are sure to have loads of fun!

For all the details, visit our website where you will find community fishing event information, helpful hints on how to fish, where to fish and much more. Or drop into your nearest tackle shop for more information.

"My dad taught me how to fish when I was just five years old and I have been hooked ever since," says Christopher Bos, BC's Family Fishing Weekend Provincial Coordinator. "I urge everyone to give angling a try during this year's Family Fishing Weekend. Not only is it a chance to spend some time having fun with your family and friends, but British Columbia offers some of the finest angling opportunities in the world."

Go Fish! During BC's Family Fishing Weekend, June 16-17-18, residents of British Columbia are encouraged to try the fun and skilful sport of fishing in most of the province's tens of thousands of lakes and non-tidal streams, with a three-day licence compliments of the provincial government. Fisheries and Oceans Canada also invites you to try your hand at tidal water sport fishing using a purchased tidal waters sport fishing licence, which is FREE to those under 16 years of age.
