Cluxewe/Malcom Island
« on: July 29, 2022, 03:22:41 PM »

Heading up the island and staying at the Cluxewe Resort next week with the family.. We haven't ventured this far up the island before, just hoping for any tips or advice. We have all the trolling gear, would love to hook into some lingers and halibut as well. Any words of advice, wisdom or well wishes is greatly appreciated!!

Just got back from cluxewe this week.
Lots of pinks running down the side of the island. You can target pink by trolling 10-20 feet down, or less if you're closer to shore. Just look for jumps. You can also fish from shore at the resort itself. Mouth if the Keogh river,.just south of the airport is good as well. 1-2 hours before high tide is best.

Can't speak to lingers or Hali though

Bring loonies for the shower. Site 74-75 are really bad as they're directly under an LED light.

The campsite is absolutely gorgeous. Amazing sunsets there.

Thanks for the heads up about the showers, we had no idea so that is great info.. Appreciate the advice on pinks, any luck with springs? We are extremely excited to get there, we've seen pics and it looks gorgeous. How are the mosquitoes?

No bugs at all.
Chinook grounds are better up near Cape sutil and north of port hardy. Limit is also more up there in that sub region. Lots of charters just do circles around Cape sutil, it's a bit of gong show

Swells are pretty big up there though.
