The Root Cause of Climate change is undoubtedly population growth ! For example when I started travelling the world in 1967 the total population on this planet was about 3.46 billion ! In 2019 the population of our world is around 7.7 Billion . So in just over 50 years the world population has more than  doubled!
Not only are their many more mouths to feed but expectations are much higher regarding home comforts such as heat & light plus local & world travel. The resulting stress on the environment to provide for everybody is staggering and ultimately unsustainable, yet year over year the world population continues to grow ! Surely control of the world population has got to a big part of the formulae for addressing the issues around climate change ?
I have to agree with you Chief. The good news is that it looks like we have time to work on strategies for the future. Crops are at an all time high. Hunger and poverty are at a low. The media these days has our minds zeroed in on one thing, "catastrophe", and not working toward sustainability. I guess good news does not sell, or is it, not many people want to hear good news?

this is the "confusing correlation with causation fallacy".

The root cause of climate change is burning fossil fuels most of which takes place in economies with low population growth.

Not true ! Please Check the Institute for Energy |Research at www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/fossil-fuels/global-energy-demand-and-fossil-fuel-consumption-rose-in-2018 and note the China, India and Other Developing Asian Countries such as Pakistan and Indonesia account for almost 60% of the world total in 2018 !

so what? That's apples and oranges data. You said population growth but are citing development and economic growth.

Even at that both China and India are in the low category of population growth. High population growth countries are mostly in Africa. Even Pakistan is about in the middle.  Russia (#4), Japan(#5)  and Germany (#6), all countries in the top 10 for total carbon emissions, have negative population growth.

How about some other statistics. While the world population may have more than doubled since 1967, the number of automobiles registered for the road has increased over 6 times. The number of aircraft flights has increased over 10 times in the same period.

What is automobiles and aircraft flights symptomatic of? Affluence! Both China's and India's carbon emissions reflect the rapid growth of a middle class. What defines the middle class? Affluence!

You should also know the IER is funded by interests associated with climate change skeptics and fossil fuel interests such as billionaire Charles Koch.
