Trudeau all talk, no walk on gun bans
« on: June 23, 2019, 01:11:43 PM »

May well be something to this:

Trudeau all talk, no walk on gun bans -- thank God

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s promise to ban “assault style weapons” after the next election is great news for law-abiding gun owners and target shooters in Canada.

A ban makes zero sense, will do absolutely nothing to prevent crime, in fact it would increase the number of shootings by diverting government resources away from fighting gangs, and is the last thing law-abiding gun owners want.

So, why is it great news?

Because, If we’ve learned anything about Trudeau over the past four years, it’s that he doesn’t keep promises.

Trudeau is all sizzle, no steak. He’s all hat, no cattle. All talk, no walk. And, thank God for it.

Announcement. No action. Move on. Repeat.

Trudeau has established a predictable pattern of behaviour on hot-button issues: he makes an announcement, then does nothing about it and moves on to the next shiny object. Wash, rinse, repeat.

In a press announcement, Trudeau accepted there is an ongoing genocide targeting Canada’s indigenous peoples. Genocide is a crime against humanity. Somebody should probably do something about that. What did he do? Nothing. He moved on.

On Monday, the Liberal government declared a “Climate Emergency” in the House of Commons. Emergencies are serious things that normally demand immediate action. What action did Trudeau take? Nothing. He moved on.

In fact, the very same day, he jetted off to party with the Raptors in Toronto, then back to Ottawa for a meeting before flying to Montreal. Serious stuff, these “climate emergencies.”

During the 2015 election campaign, Trudeau promised to end first-past-the-post elections. Did nothing. Moved on. He promised to balance the budget in 2019. Did nothing to make that happen – quite the opposite, in fact. He moved on.

The way I see it, a promise from Trudeau to seize billions of dollars worth of legally-owned, lawfully stored private property from law-abiding gun owners is fantastic news. A Trudeau promise almost guarantees it will never happen.

Which is good for everyone, because it’s a gobsmackingly stupid idea.

Even Bill Blair, Trudeau’s beleaguered minister of border security and organized crime reduction, seemed to have difficulty keeping a straight face when he told reporters last week the government had abandoned plans for a blanket handgun ban but would act to ban “assault-style weapons” quickly after the next election, because they “are so dangerous … there’s no place in a safe and civil society for them.”

So dangerous, the government must act. But … not so dangerous the government must act now. Why? Because Trudeau, thankfully, has moved on.

They’ll get to it soon-ish. Right after we re-elect them. Eventually. Maybe. Or not.

Gun owners can breathe a bit easier. For now.

Sadly, so can the subhuman thugs who murder kids with guns. Who carry guns in public. Who shoot people in crowds. Because, while Trudeau’s government has been steadfastly focused on ways to seize rifles from the innocent people who are least likely to ever hurt anybody with their firearms, they’ve done absolutely nothing to crack down on the gangs who kill with impunity on our streets.

Please, Mr. Prime Minister – do not make a promise to get tough on gangs. No announcement. No new laws. Canada already has all the laws it needs to make our streets safer.

All we are lacking is a government, a prime minister, with the guts to act.

Just do it. Or, move on in October.

Regardless, methinks we all know just what to do when October rolls around...   ;)

In a preview of the election messaging likely coming this fall, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the Liberals will be promising more gun control measures while Conservative leader Andrew Scheer will roll back some measures already passed.

“We look forward to the very next time Parliament is sitting, hopefully under a Liberal government, where we will be able to introduce further measures to strengthen measures against guns,” Trudeau told reporters at an event with Toronto Mayor John Tory.

Truth Tracker: A look at Trudeau's claim that Conservatives are 'in the pocket of the gun lobby'

Faced with questions about a rash of gun violence in some Canadian cities -- most notably in the Toronto area -- Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau said his party has a plan to "strengthen gun control" and accused the Conservatives of being “in the pocket of the gun lobby.”

Methinks Blair has a very serious problem. Make me Happy!!

Bill Blair says he never saw plea for help from amputee now running against him

Border Security Minister Bill Blair says he never saw an appeal for help from a disabled soon-to-be-former air force officer who is now challenging him in the upcoming federal election.

Fawcett — who lost a court challenge of the military's refusal to pay her disability benefits for a 2006 traffic accident that claimed both the life of her infant son and her leg — is the nominated federal Conservative candidate in the Toronto-area riding of Scarborough Southwest.

On Thursday, the minister's staff at first denied having received any notes whatsoever pertaining to Fawcett's case. They reversed themselves later in the day after CBC News produced a copy of her email.

The two did exchange emails early in 2017, when — according to Blair — Fawcett sought his support in applying for a Senate seat, two of which were vacant at the time.

They've met on only one occasion, Blair said.

Typical LIEberal, attempting to lie his way out of it, then shrugging it off when he gets caught!
I wish ALL THE BEST for Capt. Kimberly Fawcett in her run against this slimeball!

Yes, it took the Liberals their full mandate to pass their lone gun control measure. What it did was create paperwork for law-abiding gun owners, while failing to deal with the real problem of gangsters with illegal guns.

The Vancouver Police Department opposes Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mayor Kennedy Stewart’s goal of banning federally licensed handgun owners and stores from Canada’s third-largest city.

Young Canadians' love affair with Trudeau on shaky ground as election nears

OTTAWA/TORONTO — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be renowned internationally for his youthful persona and social media savvy, but even before the embarrassment of his recent blackface makeup scandal there were concerns about the support he needs from younger voters to win re-election.

Trudeau goes for fear over facts once again on gun violence

... doctors were talking about dealing with the violence, the pain and the carnage caused illegal guns wielded by gang members shooting up city streets across the country. Trudeau’s proposals, meanwhile, only targets law-abiding and licensed gun owners.

Have you ever heard of a gang member, Mafia boss or biker buying the guns they use in criminal activity at the local gun store after applying to the RCMP for a licence?

The answer is an obvious no.

Yet, Trudeau is hoping that most people don’t make the connection, don’t ask the obvious questions. The AR-15 rifle that he continues to reference has no history as a crime gun in Canada. I’ve found one instance of this gun being used in a crime in the more than 50 years that the gun has been legal in Canada.

If Trudeau wanted to deal with the concerns raised by the doctors he was sitting with, he would be focussed on solutions that deal with crime guns and not the people shooting lawfully at the range on the weekend.

By making the choices that he has, Trudeau shows he wants easy votes rather than real solutions.

The Liberal handgun proposal is breathtakingly stupid
For political reasons, they felt like they had to do something. 'Do something' are the two scariest words in politics

Poll shows Trudeau gun control promises firing blanks

Trudeau hoped that he would be able to campaign on fear of guns, but for the most part, it doesn’t look like that campaign is working.

If votes are the reason for this policy, it isn’t working.
