Bait Bucket List.Who would be on it?
« on: January 24, 2014, 07:54:41 PM »

I was sitting recently thinking about several individuals that post on this wonderful discussion forum, (thanks Rodney); and of all who post, who would I most like to spend a day on the water with.

There are those senior members with thousands of post whom surely harbour a vast wealth of knowledge and experience yet come across as arrogant know it alls. We might surely catch, but not my idea of great company. (I'd rather get skunked with someone like Hook, [prolly a rarity and I'd accept full responsibility for being his jinx!] than release a dozen with a few of the others that I've seen post here.

There are others with few posts but obvious knowledge and helpful demeanor that I bet would be a pleasure to be cooped up with in the confines of a small boat or ice fishing hut, or chatting in a car while traveling hours getting to one of their favourite fishing holes.

Or perhaps go off the board. In this era of maybe an over-abundance of fishing shows, perhaps one of those celebrity guides/show hosts. (personally, Gary Cooper would be just about last on my Bait Bucket List. But to each his own!)
Personally, hangin' out at the 'Scuttle Butt Lodge' with Red Fisher (I wonder if it was his real name?) would be pretty cool. Or how about matching the hatch with Roderick Haig-Brown and looking over his shoulder as he ties?

Anybody, anywhere. How about monster Tuna or Sailfish? Tarpon in the flats  on a fly rod?

I should think for me, somewhere up an Indonesian flow with Ian Forbes and the shore lunch that he seems to travel with would be very close to the top of my Bait Bucket List.

What would your list look like?

P.S. I forgot to check if a thread like this already exist so go ahead and whack my pee pee if one does.

Fishing any location with my current and trusted fishing buddies such as Tadpole and Bobo and a few others that don't post here: Priceless
For everything else there's Mastercard (or Visa) ;D

Great post made me laugh a lil! Yeah Gary cooper drives me nuts but love the show because he fishes in awesome spots for big fish on light tackle... Would be a great day fishing with Brian Chan! The boys from big coast would be fun to have a couple beers with and catch a couple springs and lets not forget about Mariko Izumi.... Just cause :)

Fishing the Dean, Morris or Bulkley with my dearly departed father, recently lost to cancer.  May his ties be forever neat, his knots strong, and his lines tight.

'May his ties be forever neat, his knots strong, and his lines tight.'

Thanks Sandman for sharing that.
I was talking to my Dad just the other day and I hear your dad is teaching the fly tying seminar up there next Wednesday night.  ;)
