Steelhead Released Into The Stave River
« on: November 05, 2009, 07:53:44 PM »

The Fraser Valley Salmon with the cooperation of Go Fish BC and the Abbotsford Trout Hatchery staff released 7,920 steelhead fingerlings into the Stave River today. The FVSS donated $356 to help this endeavor. I went along for the journey and my video diary of the trip can be viewed below. Thanks to Steve for an interesting day and the Tim's coffee. ;D ;D ;D

That is great that they did this. I wish they would do something on the Kanaka before they are all gone. The last time they did a float on this river there was only 3 steelhead left.

Ummm... First question is why would you want to keep any?
Secondly the fingerlings will probably be going out to the ocean sooner than later so there wont be much catching of them.
Trout cannot be ratained unless over 30 cm and all wild trout and char must be released.
So stated plain and simply yes - you cannot keep any of these fish.

Don't take my word for it though... go read the regs, I wish people would do that more.

Good one Derp,on that note there was a Doom and gloom fact based documentary on the tube the other night that stated it takes 5 pounds of ground up fingerlings [anchovies] to make one pound of farm salmon, the bottom line was all the fish will be gone by 2050 if the world stays the course it's on :'(
