Tidal Fraser River, June 10th 2011
« on: June 12, 2011, 12:06:47 AM »

fished the lower fraser yesterday morning. we arrived during the incoming tide, got the baits out quick. fished oolies and lamprey tipped with worms.  rods started dancing as we sipped on out coffees. rod 2 starts to do the dance we have been waiting for. a quick tap tap then it slammed down, i set the hook, drove it home, hook sets are free. passed the rod off and quickly got rod one in and out of the way. all the time we got a dog going crazy leashed up. 20 min's of a solid fight no jumps but it put up a good scrap. i take off the lead weight, no need for a cracked melon. i passed the gloves to the delighted rookie.  he pops the hook out and i go grab the camera, dead battery. shucks what a bummer. he says next time that wont happen... we finished the day with some cold brews. i  got a rookie hooked. personally it cant get any better seeing the look in someones eyes when they fight/land a fish of a life time.

If you don't like the fish you're catching... change the bait!!

Joe we're gonna have to go take a run at some sturgeon sometime ASAP - coordinate a day off, bring some beers, bait, chairs and smiles.  Nothing better.

Congrats, BTW dude - A good first experience will make him into a good, experienced sportie.
