Bug Pumper....with regards to your comments on the page...
It's the Canon Digital Rebel. I love the carity too. I'm now going to be allowed to take the Powershot S45 to the river, since the more expensive one isn't allowed near water with me - something about the Fraser, tipping a canoe, and a $250 repair bill for the Canon SLR previously :(

Ha!! Thats what happened to mine. I had it double bagged and it still got wet. Major heartache.
-
Mine was just sitting in a daypack, unwrapped :( Wife was none to pleased :o

DragonSpeed get insurance for that camera, specially if you are taking it for trips (fishing or otherwise). It is preety expensive and why to be sorry later on :) ? You can add on insurance to your house/appartment one to avoid deductible if you already have one.
just my 2c

awesome pics dragon, i used to have a s40 - loved, and the s45 ( ihear) is even better...about your new rebel - well they do rocketh :) Great choice, but how do you like the macro, is it good for close close ups?
-
Hiker, I'll have to look into that - good point.
Dennis - No macro pics yet. I'll see what I can do. I tend to do flowers in macro, and not many flowers around right now :(

why don;t you guys just get a mini series Pelican case. They got many different sizes, but my advice to you is to get one big enough for the camera and extra bettries. Yes, its little pricy, almost 30 bucks. but you can bring them to fishing, sking or other outdoor activities without getting it wet.

It's when it's NOT in the case that it still has pretty high potential for the "Doh!" factor :(

why don't you get an underwater housing unit for you little investment. My next/new camera will have this! it's about $150 bucks but you can take your camera out even if it's raining or if you're on a boat.
My friends here have one here in Japan and it's just awesome. We go for a swim and he just swims with his camera on his side. You get some really cool looking pics that are very unique looking.
You could even take pics of your fish underwater as they're coming close to the beach. You'd need a friend to take the pic but you'll get a very cool looking pic.
It's just my two cents worth.
Oh by the way nice looking pics!

DS, get a dry bag from a boating store.

Those work but not they're not really going to protect your camera if it's raining or if your in a sandy area.(if you wants to take pics in those conditions) If you get one you'll never have to worry about when you take your pics and loosing your camera to the repair shop and having to pay $150 bucks to repair it.

Anybody ever try an AquaPac?
