Title: Flies for Terrace / Kitimat Coho
Post by: c-pin on March 30, 2020, 01:11:33 PM
Hey Everyone

Im heading up to Terrace in the fall for Coho fishing.

I fly fish for Coho down here on the coast, but was wondering what flies are the go to for the central coast.

Any help is appreciated. While this Covid thing is around, I thought Id get busy tying flies.

John

coho there take big flies. hobo spey works well.

I believe there is bait ban in kitimat during coho run. and only one fish a day.

took a guided trip on the Kalum a couple of years ago. This is the fly the guide provided.

tied on an intruder shank 30 to 35 mm. Pink butt, orange body yarn or dubbing, guinea hackle, orange and pink marabou wing (sparse), a couple strands of pearl or silver flashabou.

Length is about equivalent to #2 or #4 Atlantic salmon or steelhead fly hook
