Title: Salt Water Fishing
Post by: Will_CARP on May 18, 2004, 09:09:10 PM
Went fishing today at Burrard Inlet, caught nothing.  I wonder if it is too early
in the spring?  Saw many people catching crabs, mainly red rock.  By the way, i was fishing by the chevron oil refinery, close to confederation park in Burnaby.
Got bored and decided to turn over some rocks on the beach and encountered some interesting species living there.  Close to the water were eels; they were brown with halo spots on them, very cool. Under rocks with fine sand below that were many seaworms (great for sea fishing); and many tiny shrimps.

Well, i'm going to give it a go again today after school.  I will probably be at Jerico Beach.  Will probably go crabbing and sole fishing.

i usualy just bring a bag of frozen prawns but when is low tide and when i got buddies there i just go to the beach and get myself some sea worms.

IMO pier fishing has to do alot with timming.  try 6-8 usualy the best time for me.

prawns are 2nd best choice from sea worms IMO . only bad thing is that they dont stay on the hook too well.

Do you use raw whole prawns or like the cooked pealed shrimp

raw.... if fish is abundent then it doesnt really matter, but most of the time raw will always beat cooked cocktail shrimp from safeway ;)
i usally peal off the skin and cast gently to advoid it being teared off the hook
