Title: High Elevation Lower Mainland Lakes

I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about the higher elevation lakes in the lower mainland, mainly in and around the squamish/whistler area. I was just wondering what one could expect from lakes such as Mamquam or Lake Lovely Water which require a hike to get to, and if there was any point on taking a fishing rod when visiting them.

And if anyone knows when they ice off  that would be good too.

There are rainbows in most of them, but like most alpine fisheries you need to check the elevation before you leave because the ice can be late coming off.

Mamquam is a beauty but about a 22 kilometer hike. Bring a few type buzz bombs along, they bite good on them there amazingly(followed them right to my feet). Only fresh water lake I found they worked! Remember in the summer the glacier stream you ford on the way can get pretty big on hot days. Scenery is second to none and good campsites at the lake. Might post some pics from there. Tons of fish, nothing too big but not all small ones.

thanks newsman, troutbreath! I am thinking about going camping up in that area around mamquam or the Elfin Lakes. perhaps I'll be able to catch fresh dinner :).
