I use mostly what ever I have at hand and if it doesn't work I keep promissing to myself to make sure that I will have the right float with me next time. A promiss which, of course I never keep. I like balsa best.

Where do you 'balsa' users get the balsa to make em?......or do you buy them? Looking for a cheap source of Balsa to turn some floats.

just bought a couple of foam, and a package of corkies today. I also got a couple of cheap bright yellow foam things with a straw thru the center. They look like they might actually work.

You can buy balsa at Windsor Lumber.

Depends on who you talked to. Strictly personal preference

Cork is heavier and seems more durable then balsa. Cork is my personal reference. But i have to admit i found a Drennen and used one for the 1st time..wow.. love the way they float and the sensitivity.

I would still have to go with Balsa!!  But I am rather picky over what kind of Balsa float I would use.  Some work well for me, and some do not. ;)

I would like to get some balsa & cork and carve my own. I have some really fine carving tools, which I haven't used (yet)

Yes...I have seen good sized pieces there but it is hellish expensive ! I'm thinking there must be a cheaper source of this stuff so that a float doesn't end up costing $10 ...otherwise I might as well buy Drennans.
