Title: The Judgement in the Alexandra Martin case??
Post by: Big Steel on December 02, 2005, 03:51:26 AM
On May 31 Alexandra Martin filed charges in a private plea case against the Heritage Salmon Company and the Federal and Provincial goverments.  She was claiming that the salmon company is illegally discharging sea lice from it's farms in the Broughton Archipeligo.  The file included charges against both goverments for aiding and abetting violations in the fisheries act.
She stated that it was her estimate that each salmon farm was releasing upwards of 50 million sea lice larvae from each farm per month.  Which we would all agree has had and will have dire consequences on the out-migrating salmon stocks.
I was wondering if anymore info has come to light on this subject, as a judgement was to have been made in a Port Hardy court in July.  I would be interested in knowing the out come of this, and whether or not the judge decided there was enough evidence to move forward in this case!!
