Anybody know whether liquor stores accept empty rum and scotch bottles ?

If they're a brand they sell they will. If not you'll need to bring them to bottle depot.

Only prop I have had returning liquor bottles is ones Igot from duty free.  FA if you are on the north shore, the bottle depo beind cap mall usually takes those ones even.
