Title: Harrison River Mouth - Foot Access:
Post by: RalphH on October 08, 2005, 10:15:05 AM
For everyone's info  and particularly those people who have been confronted by some members of the Chehalis Band in the last few weeks:

after being told to get the F* off the reservation I called the regional land titles office; per their on line maps the reservation stops at the top of the dyke. The area below the high water mark is public.

I have only been so bothered once - on the same occasion (when there were many band members at the launch) I was cheerfully greeted by an elder following the demand to leave.

I strongly recommend people avoid confrontation and simply make it clear that your understanding and the Provincial Gov'ts is that the shoreline is public. Keep off the dyke rod south of the No Tresspassing sign.

Anyone who is the focus of an assault (one guy told me someone threw rocks at him) call 911 if you have a cellphone.
