USE AVG...
its free and really good. You can DL it at http://www.grisoft.com. I have used Norton, Kapersky, McAfee, and AVG, and this one seems to be really good....plus, its free. And....it will help you catch more fish because you'll be spending time on the water instead of f****** around with your infected computer. :)

hello... I am not sure what you guys mean that its free... I went to the site and they want something like 38 95 for two years... is there a free version available...
thanks

Norton has really fallen off in the last year or so.
AVG is a decent free alternative, make sure you also are running your winxp firewall, that you have the latest sp2 and all current security patches.
Also the microsoft Anti-spyware program is free and useful as well.

it's a tricky thing to find-try http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
If that doesn't work do a search on the site for free

I've heard of a few people having problems with Norton+XP+cable internet.

I recommend AVG and I also recommend Ad-aware inconjunction with HijackThis! for scanning your computer for security threats that an Anti-virus program does not detect. Ad-aware is available at http://www.lavasoft.com/ Lavasoft has a forum which has some very helpful members who guide you through fixing the problem.

HiJack This ! is an excellent piece of work! Ive needed it twice now. Adaware is also something that no computer should be without. Norton is fine, but on my system anyways, its a bit of a memory hog. There is no ONE thing that will protect your PC 100%, but if you have a hardware firewall and good antivirus, you should be alright; the best way to protect yourself is to know what youre downloading and where you are downloading from. Sites like "fishingwithrod" are pretty safe bets ;) Some of the other "withrod" sites im not so sure about ;)

Norton is junk! I have used McAfee for 3 years. It is very good also. But, not free.
Then again...you get what you pay for!
