Ivan is correct; it's pretty well over. It generally is a summer and early fall fishery.

Summer/Fall, or Spring/Fall? What about herring?
thanks. IAn ;D

I usually start fishing for smelts in June til early September (Smelts are closed from June 15 to Aug. 15 inclusive). I don't fish for herrings, although I have caught jack herrings in my nets.
-
Hi FA do you do it from shore or boat?
-
From shore using waders.
-
Nice, I've smelt fished (netted) from Jericoe and only caught smelt, perch and sculpin (a BIG pain)
-
June 15th to August 15th inclusive? What's that?
-
havn't tried that yet, wouldn't mind tagging along with some one next season.
-
What exactly would you do with the smelt? Fry them?
-
Delicious pan fried.

June 15th to August 15th inclusive? What's that?
Smelt retention is closed during that period of time. August 16 & on it is open but only from Thursday to Sunday each week.

So basically you can't fish at that time period, correct?
Thanks. Ian ;D
