Boy - the Globe is on a role today:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20050805.wxbears05/BNStory/National/
From the article:
The coastal grizzlies, which eat spawning salmon almost exclusively from late summer through the fall, showed markedly higher levels of PCBs, organochlorine pesticides and a group of chemicals that are used as fire retardants in everything from foam cushions to building materials.
More "Man vs. Nature" :(

It's a real shame
-
fire retardant :o how will i ever bbq my salmon ;D ;D

If the info as posted in correct then the title should be something like
Widespread Pollution Negatively Impacts Apex Predators
Bringing Salmon into the equation as posted-remember they are the victims of pollution as well-is wrong and gives a skewed picture of the situation.
It's typical sensationalist bullsh*t journalism from dorks who spend all day in offices-totally out of touch with the natural world.

Hey Sam nice to see you are still calling us media type's to account.
Smells like a possible cover up to me. In Ont Health Canada publishes a safe consuption guide that the tackle shops had out with the fishing regs. Sounds like we have come to the place where we need consumpion guides here; but then to ecknowledge we have a problem might make the government and they industry pals look bad. To poison the peons is one thing but to have the powers that be look bad; "OH HEAVEN FORBID WE CAN"T HAVE THAT!"

Evolution my friends - nature will adapt. I just hope we're not too quick for Nature to do it's thing.
Man, has anyone noticed how nasty the suns rays are becoming - I don't remember it ever being so bad. Maybe I'm just gettting older. ::)
Get a load of this - my brain just told me that the Pro Cure I use for my precious little Steely sacks is starting to cause people to live longer. I figure since not every fish that eats the tasty little morsels gets caught everytime but most eventually do - they are passing the Pro Cure preservative onto the fisherman or in many cases the fishermans in-laws and these old birds (in-laws) are lasting too long. Pro-cured in-laws, what will Rieber come up with next? ;D

i'm sure that some right wingers will find a way to blame the indian fishery on this....
kidding...sort of.... :P
ps...my not so subtle point is that white expansion causes more trouble then anything the natives may or may not get up to by illegal fishing...sort of like focusing on the mosquito while the elephant (white) rampages thru the village...
-
holy crap dennis..... the hint of racism (against whites) sure does seem to ooze it's way to the surface in your posts. And what the hell does anything you said there have to do with the topic of discussion??

I need to second your point there allwaysfishin... Why do some people go to such extreems to spread this kind of B.S. ? I got no time for that kind of crap.
