Title: Iona Beach Potential
Post by: YY on June 30, 2005, 02:38:52 AM
I was just cruising by Sea Island, where the airport is. Past Mcdonald Beach is the Iona Beach. There are two potential spots.

Jettie:
The rocky jetty that stretches all the way out into the sea seems to access the salt water. People also seem to jog all the way out. Are there any saltwater species that can be caught there? Seeing that it features a sandy bottom, would there be crabs around that area that are catchable by casting crab traps?

Swamp:
Right in front of the public washrooms at the beach, on the opposite side of the sea, is swamp/pond that seems to have an in-flow from the Fraser North Arm. Does any local know if there is the slightest chance any fish to be caught in there?
